Tidal Power

The kinetic energy in water flowing at 5 knots (2.5 m/s) is more than in a 260 km/hr wind, as seawater is 832 times denser than air. Storms are temporary- tides continuous.

Tidal power offers a non-polluting, reliable and predictable source of energy that unlocks a huge untapped resource with enormous market potential. Unlike wind and waves, tidal currents are entirely predictable.  Tides have the potential to provide a considerable proportion of the power market in years to come. The magnitude of the tide at a location is the result of the changing positions of the moon and sun relative to the earth, the effects of earth rotation and the topography. Due to its nature tidal power is practically endless and classified as a renewable energy source.

Predictable and Reliable- Tides are generated by the relative motion of the earth, sun and moon which can be calculated with almost 100 percent accuracy.
Endless- Caused by gravitational pull of the moon and the sun, tides offer a constant flow of energy.
Global-  Tides are available around all continents.
Energy Rich- Moving water is 832 times denser than moving air. 0.1% of marine power could supply 5 times the global demand. UK Marine Foresight Panel
